Remote Keyless start

Hi, I have a 99 Toyota 4runner LTD. I just had to replace the engine battery. I have noticed since replacing the battery that when I use the remote, the normal beep beep for locking or unlocking does not sound. The remote is after market with automatic engine start. It still seems to work....I just no longer have the sound to let me know the vehicle is locked or unlocked. Hey that beep comes in hand when you lose your car in a huge parking lot. It's also handy for locking the car from inside my house if I forget to lock it. Could there be a fuse or something else needing to be replaced or reset?
