Question on the 1/12 Nissan Skyline R32 racecar by Fujimi

Hi everybody !

I have a few questions on the 1/12 Nissan Skyline GT-R32 Racecars by Fujimi.

I´ve seen some projects of this model on some websites and I want to buy one.. but I have a few questions since it is alot of money.

How is the quality and fitment of this kit?

And I have seen some mistakes in the moldings like the brakes and the roll-cage.. anything else that is wrong?

And lastly.. The rims and tires looks a bit small to me.. is this the case? Because I really want that touringcar-look of the car with the wheels really close to the fenders.

I haven't started any of mine, but I hope sometime in the future I will. Which race livery version are you planning on building? The wheels will differ in each kit. I also noticed the gauge cluster decal is a bit off from most versions.

You may also want to PM "SuperMele" as he was also building a Calsonic version (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=967078).

BTW, the street versions will have the same basic components as the race ones minus the obvious "race only" bits (race version has a roll cage, gutted interior, etc). I can tell you from owning and inspecting the Veilside versions that the resin pieces are CRAP! Typical Fujimi style I suppose when they were still doing resin cast pieces.

Hey Rickard,

Don't expect to much of this kit, when i first openend the box it was like whow, that looks sweet...
But than you start to build, check some reference pics and realize that Fujimi just gave you a street car, and added a rollcage sprue. And also some small bits like exhaust, racewheel, seat and fire extinguisher.

Fitment isnt a huge problem for the moment, but i have seen other people having problems with hood and door closure... Maybe one of the reasons i make it with the hood and doors open The quality of plastic is ok for me...

The mistakes are to much to write down, but with some work they are mostly easy to fix... Just dont expect it to be a quick build.

Like you i have noticed also that the rims are to small, i've searched for aftermarket rims but havent find them... One thing is that the rims are not correct also, compared to pics of the real thing. Again one of the reasons to place the car on jacks, with wheels off There is no touringcar-look but with some adjustments of the shocks etc i think you can achieve that.

I hope i havent scared you with this, its a nice kit with a lot of potential...
You just have to make you're mind up on how detailed you want to make it, and how close you want to make it to the real car...

if u want to build a racer u can prepare for lots and lots of scratchbuilding. mistakes I can think off are: wrong rollcage, wrong seat, stock suspension(wrong but even tamiya in their 1/24 dont provide), wrong cooler, wrong brake master cylinder, wrong turbos, wrong suction pipes from turbos, wrong brake discs and calipers, openings in bumper looks like crap headlights looks strange, low engine guard shouldnt be there. instead of it there shoul be air ducts for brake cooling, oil coolers missing and I didnt noticed jakcs but I am not sure. it can be fun watch someone rebuilding this kit into a super replica.

That reminds me of another thing that annoyed me. The front ducts have to be manually cut out.

As for the rest of the incorrect parts, I think it all boils down to which race team you plan on building. In Fujimi's defense, it would be quite a hassle, not to mention quite a bit more $$ to redo all the small parts specific to each team. For example, different charge pipes, surge tank, etc. Also, keep in mind the year/race your reference pics are from and what year/race you're trying to replicate as I'm sure they'll be differences. Most deceiving would also be recent/present time track day photos of these old machines as I've noticed some owners have updated some hardware (probably for wear & tear sake). Stuff like seats have been replaced with updated ones (Bride for example), air jacks have been replaced with modern units, hose couplers, etc.

BTW, the seats are the OEM ones, as are all the other incorrect parts.

yes. each team differs.thats another problem. every single photo of this car is different.calsonic is probably the best choice coz theres a lot of reference, for example god knows to which car belongs exhaust setup provided in kit
