Door latch busted? wont open at all.

My dad bought a 2000 Durango the other day (yeah I know, I warned him) and the left rear door locks were making an "annoying noise" so he took the whole mechanism out to try and fix it, didnt know what he was doing and put it back in. He then closed the door and now it wont open. I have tried everything I can think of - wd40 soaking, taking the hindges off and trying to rock it back and forth alittle, checking the linkages, ect. I have never come across this before, and not knowing what he actually did/messed with does not help, any ideas?

the little solenoid or motor that controls the locking mechanism may have stripped, and not letting you unlock the door (thats why it makes the noise, because it cant grab on to the gears) get another from the junk yard and switch them...its easy..

Can you take the door panel off with the LR door locked?

You might have to break inner door panel, repair, and find a replacement panel from a salvage yard.
