Coupla runs

So, despite the new vehicle purchase and the lack of a flying M on the hood anymore, I still meet up with my old Mazda club here on Thursdays. Cobb has a facility out in Plano, and they host a meet every month that a bunch of us go to with a good number of Scooby and Evo guys.

After the last meet, a couple of us that all live out by each other rolled out together. Ended up running them on the way home, the first being just a fun run and the other a little bit of a grudge match.

First run I lined up against an RX8, full bolt ons and tuning. Loud as fack, but hell, what catless full bolt on rotary isn't? Got all lined up in 60, I started in third and honked us down. Started pulling right away but shut down at 75-80 because someone in a Silverado decided to swing in front of the red sports car hauling ass down the center lane. Got around the truck, open free way. Three honks again from 60 and we took off. Started pulling right off the bat again, flat shifted into fourth around 80, wound it out to about 110 when I shut down two-three cars up. Two days ago he said he wanted another run, now has a bottle hooked up and said he was doing 302 at the wheels on spray. I've been practicing launching so hopefully I'll get him to go from a dig and I'll be able to get him down low so he ends up playing catch up...until I get my own bottle hooked up.

Second set of runs happened the same night, a sort of grudge match between me and a friend. We used to run when I had the Speed, and I'd walk all over him. But ever since getting the Z, he kept talking about how he beats Zs all the time, wouldn't waste time running it, blah blah blah. He has a Mazdaspeed Protege with pretty much everything short of a bigger turbo on it, and had just finished doing a CO2 front mount sprayer that day.

I managed to get pulled up next to him with some open space in front of us. Honked down at 60, started pulling right away but almost nailed the money shift from third to second so I lifted off. He pulled up again, and we lined back up. Three more honks from 60 and I started pulling on him pretty fast. Put about four cars on him by 115, ran it out to 120 when I shut down and hit the flashers for shits and giggles. He stayed back for a few minutes, and then took off after some bikes. Now he's saying he wants to get a run from a dig and that he'd pull me down low, so hopefully gonna get that run done soon.

Notes from some guy names Cliff:
Beat and RX8 who is now spraying and wants to run, whuped a Protege. Fun times.

Re: Coupla runs

Have you had the car to the track yet? Sounds like some good times.

Not the straight track yet, but I had it out at a drift/autox day.
