92-96 lesabre battery trays
Does anyone know how the metal battery trays are attached to the fenderwell area? Mine is all rusted out so i went to a pick and pull to see if I could take one off a good car, and the thing seems like it'seither glued down or welded from underneath, as I could not see any weld marks from the top (or spotwelds either)
update: found the part online and bought it for a whopping $45, but I suppose not bad for another 17 years... Last edited by Amopower; 07-19-2010 at 09:57 PM. |

Re: 92-96 lesabre battery trays
How does the new tray go in? Will it bolt in , or does it need to be welded into place? Seems like it may be tricky to install.

Re: 92-96 lesabre battery trays
I will take a look at the brand new one when it comes in. I guess it is welded to the fender from below, but that's just a guess. There are two metal tabs that come from the fender and appear like they are holding the battery tray in place, but when I bent them up to get them out of the way, it didn't matter, the tray was still stuck in place, so I guess they are there as a backup plan in case the weld/glue comes undone.

Maybe you can set the new tray on top of what is left of the old tray and it will work well enough to hold. I have an old truck that has a plastic deal under the battery on top of a rusted out tray.
