98 Saab 900 SE no spark

I have a 1998 900 SE turb and it just died. I took the spark cassette off and my plugs were wet. So I thought, no spark. Is the crank sensor going to be my first choice on testing. and how do I test it?

Failing crankshaft sensors will often cause intermittent missing from the engine and can be difficult to diagnose because they usually occur intermittently. A good way to test the crank sensor is to put a timing light one the number 1 plug wire (or the number 1 wire for the DI systems which is usually orange but check your wiring schematic first). On a properly functioning ignition system the timing mark will stay reasonably still when looking at it with a timing light or strobe tool. If the mark on the flywheel is moving erratically you may have a crankshaft sensor issue or a possible issue with the reluctant in the ignition distributor (if your car has one) causing a problem.
