Revell Shelby Cobra 427 S/C built for "Fine Scale Modeler" issue

I built this model this past spring as a how-to achieve a glossy paint job for "How To Paint & Weather Scale Models 2", a Fine Scale Modeler special issue.

I was sent the kit by the editor, along with a Detail Master set of racing harnesses and a prewired distributor. I had never finished a Monogram Cobra before, but had wanted to, the subject matter interested me and I got it done.

This was built mostly OOB aside from the racing harnesses and wired distributor. Paint is Tamiya Pearl Light Blue, decanted and airbrushed, and painted stripes.

Great model to work with, just a few issues fitting the radiator, more my fault than any other. For a kit that is a couple decades old, it still results in a very nice finished model.

Very nicely done, the light metallic blue really suits a Cobra!

Great color, and nice build as usual! I've really grown to appreciate the Cobra's looks.

Re: Revell Shelby Cobra 427 S/C built for "Fine Scale Modeler" issue

Looks great indeed!

I have the Fujimi Cobra and looking at the finished models recently posted on AF the Fujimi body does look a bit weird compared to Revell, so I have to pick up the Revell kit now

Bob, do you know if the upcoming Academy kit will be 1/25 or 1/24? Any more information on it?

Thanks!

I inquired about the Academy Cobra Daytona recently; it's still in the design phase until September. It will be 1/24 and have moderate detail, along the lines of a Revell. Sounds good to me, now we just have to wait to see when it hits the shelves.

Great looking race Cobra. The only comment I have is that although your paint is obviously flawless the photos don't capture the shine as well as they could, probably because they are indoors 'studio' style. Still looks brilliant!

It's always nice to see a really well built OOB build. Nice work.
