Help with fan clutch

Can anyone tell me how to check the fan clutch on my 2003 trailblazer to see if its bad or not?

m experience is replacement every 50k miles

The clutch when it fails usually stays in the high position and will roar like a helicopter, or set a code/cel. BTW, my replacement Napa part has 70k no issues.

With the engine cold, you should be able to turn the fan with your hand and feel some resistance. With a hot engine, it should be alot more difficult to turn. There should also be no looseness when wiggling it from front to back.

You should be able also to listen to the noise the clutch is making while the engine is hot, juts lift the hood, wait while engine is hot and becoming hotter and you should hear a blower sound (the fun clutch engages more and spins faster therefore the sound of wind blowing from that will be stronger and few minutes later, it will disappear as the engine cools a bit.
