Bad acceleration

97 Tahoe 5.7 runs great until it comes to pass. Floor the gas Rpm's go up to around 4000
but won't hit passing gear until I let off a little. Acceleration is not real good when I do this. I thought it my be the tranny but that was rebuilt @ 179000 now has 187000. So when I got home I put in N maxed the a/c and stomped it. The motor died started right back up. I tried the same thing when it was cold. It rev'ed great (warms up before I can get to a good rd. then same problem). No cel, repalced temp sensor, did tps sweep test, complete tune-up.

when you put the throttle half way to the floor doing 50-60mph you should down shift to 3rd..sounds like its not down shifting ...since you just got this rebuilt, have the shop check the tranny out...check fluid condition and level..


what happens when you place the gear select to 3rd at 50-60 and floor it does the engine take off or die ?

Fuel pressure was 50 psi book said should be 55-60 psi. Changed the pump & it runs great!!
