05 silverado runs bad

I have a 2005 1500 silverado that I replaced the 4.8 with a 6.0 a year and a half ago. About a year ago, I had the truck parked idling for like 20 minutes and it just acted like it was shaking real bad and acting like it was loading up. I shut it off and restarted it and it was fine. Since then, it has probably done it 5 to 10 times, but within the last 2 weeks, it is doing it about every time you stop for 30 seconds. My wife will not drive it because she says it shakes so bad and acts like it is going to die. Which isn't great when she is trying to load or unload our boat. It is not throwing any check engines codes at all. I was thinking that it was in the fuel pump, so I got it to do it when I had the fuel gauge hooked up, but the whole time it had 60 pounds of fuel pressure even when I started shaking and acting like it was loading up. Not really sure how else to describe the way that it is acting. The RPM's do not drop while it is doing this. Not real sure what to try from here, any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

use techron injector cleaner and 3oz of marvel mystery oil to the fuel ..see if it improves the idle ...

replace the fuel filter ..

what is the idle speed in gear stopped ...? what is the idle in park ?

Re: 05 silverado runs bad

It idles about 580-600 in park or in gear both the same.
I will get some injector cleaner and try that also.
I thought the fuel filters were not serviceable on these.

ya I forgot about that in the tank fuel filter that is not easily servicable ...

use the techron fuel cleaner with the marvel mystery oil ..the mystery oil will clean and lube the injectors ...I have used this for decades regularly in all large and small engines carb and injector ...types ...

Re: 05 silverado runs bad

Okay I put some marvin oil in the gas tank and drove about 5 miles and parked the truck for about 7 hours and went boating on the river got done boating and went to leave and it was real bad It would barely even go. I used to be able to step on the gas and it would power out of it missing and shaking and be fine. It took about 15 miles before it was running good again. The check engine light was flashing. When I got home I scanned it again had two codes. PO134 and PO101

the 134 code means the driver side upstream O2 sensor is not working correctly ..this may mean the wires damaged or the sensor loose / defective..this sensor usually has wire issues because of its location to the exhaust pipes..

the 101 code Maf sensor may be bad connectors to it or the rubber air ducting not secure holes in it etc...to from the throttle body..

Yea I am sorry I was aware of what the codes were I just thought it was weird to have codes know like maybe the injector cleaner or the marvin oil may of had something to do with the o2 sensors.

I have been using these products since 2000 on my 2000 5.3L . after a few thousand miles these are added to the fuel . so far very smooth at idle and plenty of power...

with your codes do as I suggested ..that wiring of the O2 driverside sensor has been reported to be causes of this , because of the difficulty of access..

Re: 05 silverado runs bad

Okay erased the codes and only drove it about 12 miles today and they never came back on. I checked the wires and all good their and I even checked the rubber around the MAF looks good. I will have to run to tow tomorrow morning. But I may have to make a 100 mile round trip tow tomorrow night if I don't have to do that I will proably atleast be making the 15 mile round trip to the launch ramp and back and hope it runs okay.
I do allot of towing and most the time it is between 5,000-8,000 pounds so not real light loads.

towing 5-8,000lbs with the 1500 drivetrain is pushing it....you should have at least the 2500 for this type work .

with the use of towing with this vehicle , I would use the marvel in the fuel . this will help get you a little more power...

Re: 05 silverado runs bad

It pulls that weight great even before I switched the motors replaced the 4.8L with the 6.0L and replaced the gears with 4.56 gears. I just wanted to beable to tow the weight and beable to run cruise and hold overdrive down the highway. I also only tow heavy loads with good brakes on the trailers. I ended up towing the boat yesterday and I didn't stop anywere and let it idle but it did fine there and back last night.

Was the VCM reprogrammed to engine and gear ratio when the engine was swapped?

Are you using a oil type air filter?
or a re programmer on it?

Re: 05 silverado runs bad

The computer was redone one I did the motor swap and was done for the gears also. I am using a k&n style filter but it has not been cleaned it in a long time really needs to be cleaned and charged soon. But was trying to figure this out before I did it. Since I have heard of to much oil on them can cause this.

Yes the oil on hard on Maf sensors
You might try cleaning the Maf sensor and filter and go easy on the oil.
