McLaren M8B (Bruce McLaren's car)

Hello!
This is my new model, made by Accurate Miniatures.
Unfortunatelly not the best quality, but it has many parts, this is the most detailed model that I had seen yet. And it's an amazing car whit 7 liters V8 and 690 Hps.

I love this car! :worship: :worship: :worship:

Re: McLaren M8B (Bruce McLaren's car)

Nice work so far!!! Anything with a big ol' injected big block Chevy sittin' in the middle of it can't be all bad...

I have one of these in my stash and am looking forward to seeing what I can do with it. I see from the box art builds that these kits have some fit issues. I will relish the challenge that it will present.

I love the fact that they provide much of the soft lines and wires molded in vinyl. I just have to figure out how to make them look more presentable and clean up the mold lines.

My current build is the AM Grand Sport and, while it is a good kit, it has it's innaccuracies, many due to molding limitations. How accurate are the McLarens?

Hello!
Unfortunatelly the vinil wires, lines are not the best things. difficult to glue (normal revell modelling glue or loctite are useless whit thees) and the paints (acryl or enemail) are can't dry in it

Re: McLaren M8B (Bruce McLaren's car)

Nice job all round! Somewhere I read a very critical review of the kit, but your car looks great! I have the AM kit for the Ratzenberger version of the M8B. I think it's the same car, except for the markings.

That's much more car than I realized was in the kit, so now I'm gonna move it up in my queue. Your model is an inspiration; now I'm really excited about building it.

The paint looks great. Is that polished plastic or paint? If paint, what color orange did you use?

Did you use the MCG PE set?

Re: McLaren M8B (Bruce McLaren's car)

Thanks!
Iz's not polished plastic(the plastic was white), I didn't want to pay mach money for the right McLaren orange (fe. Zero), painted whit simple Tamiya orange (maybe X6). I didn't use PE but could you send a foto for it? its interest me.

Re: McLaren M8B (Bruce McLaren's car)

Jabel, excellent build. Well worth the effort you put into it.

Can Am, especially those Orange McLarens have always been very special to me. I can still remember them thundering around Bridgehampton race circuit.
