Re: A/C not cooling

sometimes when compressors fail they will spew and clogg lines. Is the compressor kicking off after running for a short period of time? Knowing high and low side pressures during operation would be helpfull and is required for proper diagnosis.

Re: A/C not cooling

Could just be that the linkage to the temp control knob broke, that's what happened to mine.

Re: A/C not cooling

Heres what I got when I put my guages on it:

Before running engine compared to Ambient Temp
LowSide 80PSI
High Side 95 PSI

During Compressor Operation
Low Side 25 PSI
High Side 160 PSI

NOTE NEW COMPRESSOR & CONDENSOR INSTALLED COMPRESSOR ENGAGES LOW SIDE LINE DOESNT GET COOL AT ALL CHECKED THE TEMP KNOB LINKAGE AND IT WORKS PERFECT. STILL BLOWING HOT AIR PUT MY HAND UP AGAINST THE EVAP BOX AND IT FEELS COLD BUT MY HEATER STILL HEATS FINE UNLESS WHAT IM FEELING IS THE EXPANSION VALVE. IM WONDERING IF MY EXPANSION VALVE IS ICING? CAN SOMEONE HELP ME OUT ON THIS ONE THIS IS NUTS!

Re: A/C not cooling

My main thing right now is to try to determine if my expansion valve needs to be replaced. I dont want to take my expansion valve out replace and the same thing happens waste of time and money. I have a hunch that the expansion valve is faulty but from these readings i cant tell after process of elimination.

Re: A/C not cooling

Liquid line on compressor is warm if im correct then there must be stop somewhere on the liquid line side? Which means no refrigerant flow?

Re: A/C not cooling

Everything looks like it's working, I'm tellin you before spending more money, check the linkage going to the temp control knob.

The car will only blow hot if its stuck on hot.
If it's on full cold and the AC system is shot it will blow room temp.

Re: A/C not cooling

Ok well I took the cable off of the switch and manually operated the door to full cold and still blows hot air. Definately has to be Expansion Valve theres nothing else left any other suggestions would help! Thanks!

Re: A/C not cooling

Did you vacuum down the system before you charged it? The pressures look decent, the high side could be a bit higher, 200 - 225 would be nice. The H block is a likely target as it seems the thing is opening a bit too much and not restricting the refrigerant enough. Did your compressor lock up or did the clutch coil just take a crap?

Re: A/C not cooling

Well guys went with the gut instinct based on the condition of the failed A/C system. And went ahead and changed the Expansion Valve and the Evaporator and re-filled and everything worked fine. Blows cold I just need to change the HOT COLD range cable that thing binds up quick man if your not careful. Everything worked out good but I must say Mitsubishi just doesnt have what it takes to make a car though. They were good with TV'S and Phones.
