A/c not working. Need help!!!

Recently my ac stopped working in my 04 grand prix. The fuse was blown so I replaced it but it blew again as soon as I turned the ac on. What gives? It blows air just fine but it's not cold. Is something screwed up or do I have a short?

The ac clutch fuse blows. There's two of them. A small black 1 amp isn't blown and a 10 amp that keeps blowing

Re: A/c not working. Need help!!!

Ok there is AC compressor relay in the same fuse block under the hood, find similar one from something else on the car and swap see if it blows again. If yes then we will look for another solution.

you can also try to disconnect the connector at the ac clutch ( dark green and black wires) and see if fuse blows then. If fuse doesn't blow then and you are getting 12V at the connector with key in run position then it could be that clutch is seized or shorted. In that case measure your current resistance at clutch connector (clutch side) and ask someone here on forum to do the same so you can compare or go to nearest A-zone and measure on the new one and compare.

I switched out the relay and put in a new fuse and tried running the ac. The fuse didn't blow but the compressor didn't kick in at all.

do you have 12V at the ac compressor connector with engine running and ac ON?

or if you don't have DVOM use test light

I tested the connector with a volt meter and it read nothing. I must have a short somewhere. I recently installed a new stereo and I'm wondering if I crossed something in the dash
