Hi, every one, great site, everyone helpful, thanks!
I ahve a 1999 camry 4cly with 108,000 miles once in a while I notice that when I crank her on and she turns over, it's at a very low idle, almost turning off, does it about once a week not all the time, when I notice this happens I give it a little gas with my foot, to keep it fron turning off, seems like at cold start up only like it's at a low idle situation any idea's on what it could be, would be very helpful thanks everyone in advance my e-mail is [email protected] |

Re: 1999 camry very low idle at start up when cold
Clean the throttle body paying particular attention to spraying the cleaner liberally down in to the square or diamond shaped port in the base of the throttle body. That port leads to the idle air control valve, where your problem may exist. A dirty/sticking idle air control valve can cause the symptoms you have. Spray the cleaner down in to that port first and let the cleaner soak while you go on to clean the rest of the throttle body.
If cleaning the throttle body doesn't solve the problem I would next check the engine coolant temperature sensor for being out of range. It may be telling the computer the engine is warm when it is actually cold. To check it you will need a digital volt/ohmeter and the specs from any manual. There are Toyota factory service manuals stickied at the top of this forum's home page. Download the generation 4 manual. Here's the link to all the manuals: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=497839 Mike |
