2000 Silverado..Installed new pads/rotors..now don't stop!

I just replaced my brake pads and rotors all the way around onmy 2000 Silverado 4x4 ext. cab 1500.

Original brakes had 50K on them (only use the truck on weekends) and were getting worn...so I figured I'd stay on top of things and change everything out. Bought the "BEST" pads and rotors avail at my local autozone.

Removed the worn brakes pads and pushed piston back, installed new pads, installed the new rotors...all 4 corners new.

Take truck for test drive....the new brakes are worse than the factory worn ones!! Almost had an accident at an intersection because I could not get the truck to stop! Stood as hard as I could on the brakes...just slowed the truck down...would not stop, lock the wheels, abs not activating!!!

Decided to bleed the brakes..took out for a test ride again...still the same.

I've been changing pads/rotors on cars for a loong time..never seen this....any advice?

Just a wild thought but did you by chance use some brake clean to spray down the rotors before installing them?They usually will have an oily coating on them that has to be cleaned off or it will get transmitted to the pads and exhibit symptoms like your describing.Other than that you may have a caliper on one of the wheels that isn't grabbing even though they were all working prior to the rotor/brake install.I've been told by mechanics before that if you push the piston back too far it will screw up the caliper,although I've never had any such thing happen to me and I've changed my fair share of brake pads.

since you have done this before I know that you opened the bleed screw before pushing the cal pistons fully back . because when this is not done shit happens..

this vehicle has calipers in the rear that are very poor quality..the pistons get distorted and will bind up at different points of pad condition..I would replace the rear calipers if when removed you cannot push /pull the piston in/out with your fingers...this includes any new calipers you buy or should I say reconnditioned calipers...

the brake pads even OEM 100.00 pads are poorly manufactured and you must file down the steel backing plate of the pads to remove burrs that cause the pads to bind in the caliper ...the pads should move freely...

I sand the rotor faces with 180 grit paper then wipe the surfaces down with acetone/paint thinner etc...remove all oils and debris..

I paint the non pad area also looks better..

Is the brake pedal operation like before ?

Did you burnish the pads properly?

How did you bleed the brakes?
I have and 2004 expedition and I bleed them normally with someone pressing on the brake pedal for each wheel and the engine off.
I tell you I had to start the engine with the truck on level going and the wheels blocked and when i finished they were 10x better.
