You can go to any high performance shop and purchase a device to reprogram the Chip in the computer.

If you don't know what you are doing don't attempt it. Cost you a ton of cash to replace the chip.

A cheaper way is purchase a B&K or B&M what ever the letters are for and upgrade your air intake with a high performance filter . It does raise HP and performance.

Make sure your car is tuned up and running smooth.

Good luck to you

John

To answer your transmission question, the torque converter clutch solenoid is in the valve body of the transmission. If going out, it will give a P0740, P0741, P0742, P0743, P0744, or P0745 code. Those codes will show up on scan tools like those used at Auto Zone. You may need to go to a trans shop and have them scan it for a code P1811, which indicates a Pressure Control solenoid is going bad too.

If your TCC solenoid is going bad, it would be wise to change the pressure control and 1-2 and 3-4 solenoids. They are all in that area. Maybe the Manifold Pressure Switch also. A lot of trans parts places on the internet sell the solenoids as a package for about $125. Google 4T65E transmission parts

I just did mine about a month ago. It is a huge job, about 6.5 hours. It requires dropping the left side of the sub frame down enough to remove the trans side cover to access the valve body. Once the side cover is off, it's pretty simple to replace the solenoids. It's getting it off that is the hard part.

BNaylor did a nice write up on how that is accomplished. Here's a link to that thread;

http://www.automotiveforums.com/t656..._solenoid.html

If you have tools and confidence, it can be done DIY. If not, you're looking at paying a trans shop somewhere in the $700-900 neighborhood.

Good luck!

Re: ecm

I am looking to get aliile more power and mpg but that sounds aliile to expensive for me. about the trans it isn't slipping or anything it does change gears fine at 45 mph it goes into od like it is suppose to. until I get up around 50 and higher I feel it sometimes drop out of od and back in this is on flat road and sometimes over a bumb in the road. I think it might be a wire connection or the switch itself.I just don't know where to locate it from the outside of the trans. because of the way it acts I am 95% sure this is the problem. so can you tell me where it is ? thanks.
