03 voyager tranny problem

I have an 03 Chrysler Voyager with 3.3l and auto trans with 59k on it. Its not driven alot, once a week, and the 4-3 downshift has a hard bump now. The fluid has recently been changed, and no warning lights. What could be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 03 voyager tranny problem

May want to swing by a tranny shop and have them scan the Transmission Control Module (TCM) for transmission fault codes and check the Clutch Volume Index (CVI) numbers. The CVIs indicate clutch wear. It takes a special scanner to do it. This could be an internal problem or a problem with the solenoid pack. If it's the pack you can DIY it. A new pack runs around $150. If it's internal it's time for a rebuild. You changed the filter and used ATF+4 fluid correct?

Did a little pokin around. There is a TSB published for your specific problem for 2003 Chrysler minivans. It's number 21-006-03 and involves reprogramming the TCM. Just can't find the narrative for details.

Re: 03 voyager tranny problem

So update on the trans. I took it in to the dealer, they did a diagnostic on it, no codes, AVI numbers came back ok. They did do the update, and that seemed to fix it. Thanks for your input RIP!!
