Leaky tranny line/possible adhesive?

My Taurus' tranny line is leaking kinda bad. Not pouring out, but a decent spray. Is there an adhesive or tape I can use as a temporary fix? Obviously it has to be able to handle the heat. Something for at least a month. This car is on it's last leg so I don't wanna put too much money into it, just enough to get by for now.

Re: Leaky tranny line/possible adhesive?

Where is the line leaking? If it's leaking where a rubber line is hose clamped on to a steel line, you might be able to just cut off a half in or so of line and reconnect. If you're really lucky you'll find it's just a loose hose clamp, but don't count on that. Also, knowing what model year your Taurus is may help get some solutions to common issues with the year of your car.

Re: Leaky tranny line/possible adhesive?

It's a 1992. The line is leaking right under the front of the car. I can reach and grab the line, it's that out in the open. It is a rubber hose, but it looks like it's been cut and reconnected before because there's not nearly enough slack on the line to do that now. Like I said, I'm not looking for any costly fixes, this car is about to go. Are tapes and/or adhesives out of the question?

Yes, tapes and/or adhesives are out of the question. You might be able to get a brass hose splice and another length of hose, as well as two hose clamps, then cut the leaking hose back where it's pretty straight, then splice it with the brass and new hose. An auto parts store will likely have the hose, hose clamps, and brass splice that you need. If they don't have the splice, then pick up the hose and clamps and head to a good hardware store for the appropriate splice.

Thanks for the help, but after busting a tie rod and blowing the tranny pan gasket, I'm sayin screw this piece of crap car and getting rid of it.
