Exclamation 94 Lincoln Town car stalling

Hey all,
I'm having a problem with my 94 Lincoln Town Car losing power and hard to start. These are the symptoms I'm having

1. Hard starting- Engine just turns over and over. Car WILL start after about two to five tries

2. It then cranks but cuts off after 1-2 seconds. Will only stay cranked if you're pushing the gas pedal

3. After driving for a few miles car losses power and engine starts to bogg down. If you press harder on the gas it makes a gulping/backfire sound from under the hood. If I put the car in neutral and switch it back on while it's still rolling I'll have power back for another half mile or so.

Things I've replaced to try and fix the problem:
Fuel Filter
Fuel pump
Spark plugs
PCM

I know the car is getting fuel to the fuel rail because I checked that and even though there's fuel to the fuel rail it still just spins over unless you keep trying it over and over and pump the gas. Please help

MAF Sensor or Crank Position Sensor is what I would look at next.

Agree with all2kool. Also are you sure the cats aren't clogged?

I'm not sure if this applies to the '94 TC, but my '95 had the same problem and the way I fixed it was cleaning the EGR passages/channels under the air intake elbow, here's a link with more information about it. Hope this helps.

Just to be clear, by cats you mean catalytic converter? haven't checked that. And I'll clean the EGR passage then I'll change the MAF and if that doesnt work the crank sensor. Will keep you updated. Thanks

Re: 94 Lincoln Town car stalling

Replacing the MAF can be expensive. Clean it instead using CRC MAF Cleaner. Unless you can confirm it is faulty.

And yes I mean catalytic converters.

True, MAF's are spendy and if you have a BMW, they can be $700; believe it or not.
