hillbilly678 1978 mg midget

i have a problem with the lights coming on when i turn on the key to ignition the brake light switch was bad so i disconnected it and now i have disconnected the light switch to solve this problem to see if the side marker lights go off they do not only if i turn off the key? any help? and does anyone know if the midget has to have a ground strap on it for the positive ground? to help ur gauges work better ?

its ol hillbilly here again does anyone know if the mg has to have a ground strap on it to get a good ground? in other words better than the one on the battery cause im thinkin that thats whats wrong with all my gauges i had a similar problem with one before i think? any help would be better than no help tu hillbilly
