Many of you guys don't realize it but most of Revell's headlight housings are chrome, while you have to paint Tamiya's.

Who's AMT???

Both of them are good model companys. But I would watch out for real old amt kits or reissues of old kits. They just plain suck. But the bodies are good.

Don't get me started on AMT's kit... Crapy little things that just can't be insert in the place they should, Stupid mold lines all over the body, not enough detail in the interior to make it a bit more realistic than a plain dash board, twisted bodys, poor lining on the edge of the roof for the chrome trim, mold lines again, poor quality and unrealistic tires with always the same old rims, seats in three pieces, unrealistic riding height always looking like a bigfoot, got to have a very sharp scalpel when you begin one of those kit... and the list goes on and on.

After a AMT kit, I'm exausted and I need a Tamiya to refill my passion.

You have to paint Tamiya's? I better tell my model kits they have to lose the chromed headlight backing since I have a 50/50 split on those that are chrome and those that aren't in my Tamiya kits.
BTW, I have had to paint the headlight backing on just as many Revell kits as I have Tamiya kits, but because of all the fit problems I avoid Revell kits now.

AMT....after ONE experience with their kits, the only thing I would do with their kits is recycle them.

Depends...

The new Revell kits are hella better than the new AMT kits, the whole Impala collection blew AMT's ancient lineup out of the water. But as far as old kits, Revell was terrible. Their old versions of the 53-57 Chevies were brittle, warped, nothing fit right, and tons of flash. AMT quality at the time was better, but not by a whole lot. Both have grown a lot in the past 10 years or so after floundering in the 80s with poor quality and weak subjects (still see those MPC Cavaliers on the shelf). I'm still waiting for AMT to bust out something in plastic for the tuner crowd, Revell is eating them up with their new Hondas, the Integra, and the modified reissues of the VW Golf, BMW, and Datsun. AMT could even rerelease their old Scrirocco and Rabbit (ok, maybe not the Rabbit)

revell definately. BUT I have the 360 spyder and that kit is terrible AVOID it, find another 360 kit. but they seem to cater to the style of cars I like more than AMT (teg, civic tuner, etc...)

I actually LIKE the revell integra and civic kits, I love the engine detail, and I am glad they make them. those damn wheels never want to stay attached though ARGH!!!
