Tiburon GT V6

This car is a joke. Last night I was next to one in a two-lane left turn, he was on my right side. We both cruised through the turn, then started playing on the straightaway, matching each other's speed. He tried to jump out in front of me, so I gave it like 1/4 throttle and jumped out in front of him. I heard him floor it to try and pass, so I gave it 1/2 throttle and pulled to 1 1/2 cars before shutting it down for safety reasons. WTF? I thought these were supposed to be quick?

Perhaps he wasn't really flooring it?

they do 0-60 in 7.0. your gtp is pretty quick, i know it runs 6's.

the tiburon gt's handle mods real good though, there's one in my area that does 5.8. mods make a car quick......

I suppose I COULD be wrong... but I doubt it. I'm 99% sure he was flooring it, that noise is usually unmistakable, especially with the windows down (mine, not his).

Let's look right at the basics, the facts?! You have quite a bit more power in your car, don't you!?! Now the size difference is not that much. Well, we put 2 & 2 together what do you get?....You work him! What's the big suprise?

Trans Am - Regal.

Anyway - back to the thread.

I don't know why your GTP would pull that hard against him if he was flooring it. Your car should be faster but by that much. Either you have undeclared mods or he was in the wrong gear.

Hyundai has never been known for performance and the new Tiburon is no exception. It looks fast, but it isn't, plus it gets horrible gas mileage from some a large engine it is a big disappointment. I don't care if the aftermarket for it is growing or not. I would have to do an engine swap if I wanted the car that much. It doesn't surprise me at all that you toasted him. I don't know what you're expecting, it is much like a Probe GT, looks fast, but not fast at all.

I had been told that these Tiburons were quick and that I should watch out for them. The difference between my car and that is hardly that of between a T/A and a Regal. And Yogs, I have no undeclared mods, but it is entirely possible that he was in the wrong gear.

you'd kill him stock to stock dude. the only way a tiburon gt can beat you is if he's done at least 500 in mods.

Hyundai got in trouble because they were saying some of their cars have more horsepower than they do. The Tiburon was one of those cars. So, yes, it is overrated.

Hyundai's V6

I raced and watched a couple new Tiburons at the track. With intake and exhaust the guy I ran was doing 15.0. Not exactly fast, but better than some. One of them had a N2O kit and was running 14.something.

I'm probably going to alienate myself here, but I kind of like the way they look -- much better than the direction Honda is going.

haha...personally hate the looks of the tib's BUT i do think that honda's jus getting ugly. w/ the exception of their acura line (all of which look sweet, cept that joke of an suv), honda's styling has taken a turn for the worse. the civics look like focus's (or however u wanna look at it), accords rear ends look jacked up, they dropped the lude, the h/b SI's look like mini-vans, the insight is one of the ugliest cars on the road (great idea w/ the motor, bad idea when designing the looks)...

so with the exception of the s2k, honda really doesn't have any mainstream cars that are all that easy too look at...
