Sprayed engine
I have a hook up at the local car wash so today I took advantage.
I washed my car throughly. I am a detailer at a dodge dealership and we spray under the hood so have not tryed this before on my civic I decided it would be okay. Well I found out what the color of the valve cover is supposed to be cause before it was black. When I got out of the wash the car stalled and wouldn't turn over. I called my buddies who are preatically mechanics. we took off the distributor cap and there was water in it. Dried it out and put it back on and the car fired right up. I learned today that spraying under the hood is a bad idea for our cars.

actually its not a bad idea to wash your engine every now and then. just dont spray it on the dizzy retard:silly2: and dont do when your engine is real hot. wait till its cooled. early in the morning is good.

I try and wash my engine at least once a month with either Simple Green or Engine Brite. It's always nice to work on a clean engine, rather than one thats covered in grease and dirt.

never washed mine.... it needs it bad... all i have learned from my friends' experiences is that you need to cover your distributor. I would also wait until the engine is cool because there probably is a possibility of the header cracking from the cold water on extreme heat... i know brake rotors can crack, i've seen it happen... i figure a header is probably at just as much risk... at least the stock one...

Well theres another way to clean them safely. Use steam cleaner. THat thing will take off all that grease like nothing.
