A new beginning...

Well, as you guys know, I crashed my Civic last month. As of this coming Thursday, I am going to be entering a new era in automotive ownership. My most recent cars have been a 1990 Integra with a b16 swap, and before that, a fixed-up Accord. My secondary cars in that period were 1) a Mazda Protege'; 2) A Toyota Corolla; and 3) Isuzu Rodeo (which I still have).

This Thursday, I will be going back into the Nissan realm (used to have a hardbody p/u) with my latest purchase: a 1992 Sentra SE-R. I have long lusted for this car, for I know this car's potential (in the mid 90's these cars were running high 14's with just I/H/E/weight reduction). Here's the stock specs.

The car is completely bone stock, but is already faster than my 1.6Liter Civic, and this car tops-out much higher. My friend's shop here in town already has a FWD SR20DET that is ready to plunk in it, though I doubt I'd have the money too soon...but I'll dream.

I still love Honda's and will remain loyal but, as of now, this was the best bang-for-the-buck I could get.

Sorry to hear about your car It's always a tragedy when we lose a member of the family

I'd advise the CA18DET swap over the SR20DET though, the CA18DET costs about half as much, and the internals are stronger than those in the SR20DET. <read: slap a big turbo on, and it'll make 350hp>

My favourite JDM importer in Canada sells them for $900 USD

well, if you're really as much of a "nuttt" as you proclaim.. you should get a turbo II... yes. 1.3 liters of forced air inducted rotary FUN!!!

plus its RWD, and that kicks ass

Thanks for the replies, fellas, but at 24/32 MPG, with a 2400LB dry-weight, and did you read the part where it says it comes with a limited-slip diff, and 4-wheel discs stock?. With all that, combined with its potent SR20DE with four throttle-bodies, that can be easily swapped in with a 200+HP SR20DET, racing-bucket seats, lightweight aluminum rims, power to keep up with a lot of more modern, more expensive compacts...all that for 1,800 smackaroons...can you blame me?

Plus, it's a total sleeper. Most people don't know what it is. People just think it's a regular, old school, Sentra. I'm thinking of taking the badges off.

Also, it carries a sense of reliability with it...not as much as I'd assign to Hondas, but it's there. It was a part of Car and Driver's 10-best in 1992.

Here's a pic:

It's NOT my car, but it almost looks like it. For now...

Just to show my future goals for the car:

Here's a link to a local (to me) guy who's in the 12.0's with his SE-R with an SR20DET swap:

My Dad trained his eyes to scout for those little foglights on the SE-R's because they were one of the few cars (in its class) he feared back when his GLH Omni ruled Nickel Plate Diagonal. (the others being Mk1 Golf GTi's and AE86's Twin Cam Corollas) They're impressive little beasts.

That car ownz! Great buy carrnutt.

CA18DET! Half the cost of SR20, and it's a stronger motor

SR20DET! 'Cause it's disagreeing with Cbass!

Or maybe a 3.5L V-6 out of a Maxima/Altima. It'd fit, maybe.... sort of... they make sawzalls for that sort of thing, right?
