Question Best way to Lower it

Here is a pic of my car. I'm afraid to lower it because I want to get that Wings West W-type kit and put on it, and even now without that, it has bottomed out a couple of times and scratched it up. It would look a whole lot better lowered.. So if you can give me some ideas it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks yall

if youre talking about your springs bottoming out, then you need a new stiffer suspension. if youre just scraping, then you need to drive slower over bumps.

Drop dat ding, Girl!!!! I personally own the West Wing W-type kit and don't worry about it scraping. I've got Dropzone "springs" NOT coilovers and they ride awesome! Highly recommended... you can pick them up on ebay for about $100 shipped to your door. My front is dropped 2.5" and the rear 2.25" and it makes the whole car look different.... must have! I'll send pics if you want when it gets out of the body shop on tuesday/ wednesday the latest....

by the way, if that's your stock springs, which it looks like it is and your scraping.... somethings wrong between the front seat and the steering wheel....

:smoker2: .... just playin!

Cool thanks yall.. Any about the scraping, I live in Alabama, all the way down south Alabama... I'm sure yall know the movie Forest Gump right? Well the shrimping parts were filmed about 15 or 20 minutes from my house in Bayou La Batre.. I don't live in Big City and alot of the driveways are either kinda steep or just plain crappy..It did it once at school in our new parking lot and coming out of Blockbuster and dropping a friend off.. trust me I was going slow.. I'm getting it repainted when I get the kit for it. I get my Job the end of June so I will then have some income.. Oh, and yeah I would love to see some pics of your car after you dropped it and with the kit on it.. THanks so much yall

well i dunno how you can bottom out on stock springs unless your shocks are gone to hell or you have the bumpstops missing or messed up. anyway i have ground control coilovers with the koni yellow dropped at 3.5" and it rides awesome with the exception of my front control arms hitting the inner fenders. also i might help you with some prices if u pm or email me.

Hey I have the exact same car I used sprint springs they ran me like 120.00 I got a 2.5/2.25 drop and have no problems I had the w-west touring kit . These springs do ride a little soft for some people but I don't mind . WORD OF ADVICE make sure you change the struts when you do the springs it make a big diffrance in ride also who ever dose the springs make sure the take off the factory dust cover for the strut once you change them the strut will push on this if you don't and you get a bad ride also .All of this stuff I went through when I did it . hope it helps .

Thanks for the advice.. Well, I was going for looks to begin with to help it out some and there's more I want to do for looks, but I'm starting my job in June and I will be able to use all the money for my car. I want to get a cat-back exhaust system ( not sure what kind though, if y'all have any recomendations let me know!) and new exhaust header.. So during July and most of August I will be working full time and I start college the end of August so that will cut out some hours. My boyfriend is getting my windows tinted next week for my graduation gift, so that's money I won't have to pay. :licker: But my car would look alot better if it was lowered so I was trying to find out what I needed to get and how much it would cost me for all of it.. Though it's going to be hard to convince my parents that lowering it won't screw it up since the fender well piece just fell off today cuz of me pulling out of that driveway the other day.. but i don't think all the bolts were in it anyway.. But I have a little over a month before I can get it lowered just wanted to go ahead and start looking into things.. So if anyone has any ideas they want to share , go for it, Thanks Yall

I have the same contemplation as you do, how far should I lower my car? I mean I live in Maine where it snows for 4-5 months out of the year, and when theres snow there are frost heaves in the pavement, and when there are frost heaves, they turn into potholes... and around here some of the streets I consider unrideable because of all the potholes. but I do want to lower my car at least 1-1.5 inches, and get a nice bodykit, as well as some nice rims (17's because anything bigger would get bent to crap within a month). And be sure that when you get your car lowered that you adjust the camber, or get a camber kit so your wheels don't squat ( / /---\ \ ), that reduces your traction, and makes your steering sluggish. also makes your tires wear uneven, and it's just a whole mess of stuff you don't want to deal with..

Is there any specific brand of a camber kit that you would suggest?

Well, it doesn't snow here but maybe once every 4 years... But I'm sure it would help if I would drive a little slower over bumps.....

Hey Girl wassup again....

You really wouldn't "need" to have a camber kit with like a 2" drop. Naturally it would help things, but isn't an immediate necessity. As well as changing out the stock struts. The stock struts will ride fine and your new springs, keeping in mind "springs". If you go with coilovers and want a good ride, word is you have to go with a reputable name like Skunk2 supposedly has the best coilover ride but can run you like $250!!! The Dropzone springs I have and I was telling you about ride awesome on my stock struts, including the dust covers. Installation will take about 1-2 hours if you've done it before (or your boyfriend). If you haven't and want to attempt it let me know and I can walk you through it.. it's pretty easy after cursing for hours. Again, I'll show you the drop when the car gets out along with the kit. If you're convinced on wanting Cat-back exhaust I would go with Greddy SP exhaust. My friend who has a 97 Accord has the Greddy EVO exhaust and my opinion sounds like shit. (no offense to owners) The SP is supposed to be a little bit more tuned down.... unless you like the sound of a dirt bike??? Headers.. I would say DC Sports are rated pretty high.. but I am sure that any well made 4-2-1 header will be sufficient and you will notice gains....

my two cents!

Check out www.optionsauto.com for some good prices and sweet ideas.
