How to test the ohm reading on these subs

I have a pair of 10 inch subs that I inherited from my father's passing. There is no marking on them except the JL Audio logo on the front and the magnet. I have a multimeter, though I have never used it. How can I use it to figure out the ohms and wattage of these subs?

you will not be able to figure out the wattage with a multimeter or other such instrument. Go online and find a tutorial for multimeters, then read the resistance accross the leads. Remember that resitance will only be about 75% of the ohn value, so a 4 ohm sub will read like 3 ohms DC and an 8 ohm speaker will read like 6 ohms. Some JL's are 6 ohms, so they might read like 4.5-5 ohms.

So this is wierd. I found a tutorial and calibrated my multimeter properly (Via touching leads together then adjusting to zero), and touched 1 lead to each terminal on the sub and it reads a perfect zero....what am I doing wrong? I'm assuming there's no such thing as a sub with zero resistance...

there is if it's blown ... what scale did you put it on ? The multimeter needs to be set to the absolute lowest scale factor to get an accurate reading, should be the X1 on an analog meter (one with a needle).
