1986 carburreted 323

Can some body help me with the firing order and the location of cylinder # 1. Is number 1 cylinder closer to the timing belt on the left hand side ? Also do I have to set the gap in the distributor between the pulser underneath the rotor and the field magnets. (Sorry I might have used the wrong terminology). If so what should be the gap ?

1986 323 carburreted

Thanks, for the firing order I was thrown off track by this chilto service manual for 86 323, its full of crap unlike a Haynes manual.
O.K. Can anybody send or direct me to a vacuum drawing for 86. 323 (carburreted and automatic tranny.)
