Venom Control Module Help!

Me and my friend both just bought ourselves crx dx's, mines 89 his is 88,
i'm just finishing up doing the base work i need to do to have the car running and drivin nicely and i have plans( 2 grand canadian) to do all the body work to remove the rust and have it looking good as new. Now i'm planning on the upgrades, i heard about the venom control modual how it adds up to 25% more hp and all this, i like the idea how you can turn it on and off unlike exuast or intake so i don't have to wear down my car when i'm just comuting. what i need to know is can i get one for my dx and is it worth it? thanks to anyone whose willing to help out

from what ive heard those arent worth it, all it does is make it pretty much WOT the whole time
if you want the least expensive 25% jump in power go with a small shot of nitrous, but dont blow up anything.

Same here I have heard the VCM is not worth the money, I am pretty sure that all it does is modify the fuel signal telling the car it needs more fuel than it does. Anyhow the guy I know who used one did not like it that much.

VCM = crap in a box

You can do the same thing it does by just advancing your timing... cost? $0 to rent a timing gun :o

i have not nearly enuff car experience to condsider nitrous, i used to have a tempo (my first car) and now i have this, i'm only 17 and i'm not looking to have a serious racing car, just something a little faster than i have now. i raced a cavalier tonite, 97 z24 my friend had, i took it until about 70kmh and then it gained back and beat me by 100. i just one something, or a few things, to give me a good edge for friendly comps. in sask, where i live, theres isn't a lot in the line of nice cars so the competition is easy. i'm thinking maybe do a swap down the line and i'm wondering what engines i should keep my eyes open for.

If you are thinking swap the JDM DOHC ZC, D16Z6/Y8, or B16A are the most common and will definately give you an edge. Check out http://tech.hybridgarage.com/tech/ for more info on the those three. But if you want to keep the same engine start by loading up the D15 with a MPFI swap. That seems to be the best cheap power booster. Maybe some lighter under drive pulleys and an exhaust.....

i checked into the priceing on a VCM today. 700 bucks before taxes. i can think of a lot better ways to add power with half as much money
i'm gunna start looking at intake and exaust and stuff like that, plans are getting underway for the body work, i'll know the exact dates on monday so hopefully the wait won't be to long. i haven't taken any pictures of my car yet, but i'll be sure to do the before and afters for everyone
