Angry Plz Help Dx To Si Cam Swap Gone Bad

Ok, I need to hear from someone who has had a DX motor and did the Si cam swap for that "extra little boost." I just swappped out my cam and put in the Si cam. It makes my car idle lower, and I have no low-end torque whatsoever. I have to keep the rpm's way higher to get out of first gear. It actually made my car slower. The DX cam used to pick up around 5grand, and you could feel it. Now it doesn't even pick up at all, untill my fuel starts cutting out, and that's well around 7grand. What's happend? If anyone knows what might have happend please e-mail me or reply. I do also have an HF tranny with the long crappy gears in it. But like I said, the DX cam I had in there was running nice, now there is hardly no pull at all-even in high rpms.

No one told me I had to, so even though I have the DX motor, I need to adjust my valves to Si spec?

yeah, becuase the si cam is gonna move them more than your dx one did, so you prolly have to set them to the spec of the cam.

All a cam with bigger lobes means is that you might hit valve "float" sooner , but it doesn't sound like that happening...Did you install the cam properly and reset the distributor properly?? .....personally I would recheck your install before ditching the cam.

The install was perfect, we had marks on everything, marks on the belt and cam gear, marks on the cam gear to something else and the marks on the crank pulley we didn't move anything and we put everything back in exactly the way we pulled it out. So what do I go about doing, some ppl say valves some ppl say timing, how do i know which way to adjust timing?

And btw what does "retarded" mean? somethin with timing? I've heard it before but not exactly sure what it is...

The 3 bolts that hold the Distributor can be loosened and rotated forward or back to retard or advance the timing.
