punching out cats

2002 silverado with 4.8 lose of power and gas mileage rt side cat is pinging and poping after shuting down ,think it maybe pluged . no codes are showing up , my question is: will it harm anything or set off codes if i punch out cats?

with these issues you should have a check engine light ...could be a bad fuel pressure regulator with a damaged diaphram ...or injectors leaking ...possible upstream O2 sensors damaged ...

the cat converter can not be screwed with ya you will throw check engine lts for sure !


check fuel pressure follow the testing proceedures listed here at these forums for your vehicle...this should reveal any componet failures ..

Now i have a code p0300 replaced plugs ,code keeps return,engine doesn't pull at all on top end just falls flat. rt side cat pings and snaps after shut down like it may be over heating
