5.4 3valve engine po345 and 349

I have a 2006 f-150 w/5.4 3 valve engine. I have tested over several times with no results. I know i am missing something. tested for shorts to power and ground in harness. getting good lab scope at ecm connector. changed oil fill to proper level. any advice would be very helpfull. Its been in shop for a week now. thank you.

I'm assuming you haven't changed the sensor?

yes i have changed the sensor. there is also a new variable timing solinoid. i also have a miss on #5 cyl. and #8 cyl. have ruled out cop. problem. i dont currently have a compression gauge to fit the 5.4 3 valve as it is not a standard thread for spark plugs. i am purchaseing one from snap on today. i have also checked the cam timing, it is right on. thank you for your response

How did you rule out the COP problem?

ruled out cop by checking cop on problem cylinder. both cop's good. done a physical check on both. and also have a test coil, that is known good. also checked with noid light. after purchaseing commpresion hose to fit the irregular plug size revealed low compresion on the cylinders. removed followers to perform a leakdown test. exessive loss of comp. by pistom rings. pulling engine now.

Cool, I know that a lot of people say they check them, but really don't. Good to know.

I had a problem with my head gaskets, but I did them in the truck. It is possible!!

I have done them in vehicle as well. Not to bad actually. Pulled the heads on this one yesterday, and was suprised to find the #2 piston would not reach tdc by couple inches. Pulled block and disassembled and found, the number 2 connecting rod to be bent severly and twisted. The thrust bearing was wasted as well and cosiderable wear on all rod bearings. And yet the engine ran without noise.
