Torque Converter Indecision
Recently the GTP has developed some TCC indecision again.
What is odd is, it doesn't always happen, but when it does happen, it happens in 3rd OD and 4th OD. The rpm guage moves up and down a few times before it stays in OD. Its only about a hundred rpm or so, but enough to notice on the guage. Also what I find strange is that it doesn't always do it. sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt. What also is strange is that when it mainly does it, I am just going easy on the throttle where I always drive, rpms are less than 3k. Anytime I accellerate harder, it hits OD and stays there. Anytime I accellerate lighter, it also seems to hit OD no issues. I am wondering if I have a dead spot on my TPS. Last time I had this issue, it was due to the MAF screen not being in the throttle body. Since it has cropped up again, I checked all my vacuum lines, changed out the plugs (AL 104's), cleaned the MAF, IAC, and throttle body. It seemed to get less frequent after this work, but still does it sometimes. What I have also noticed is that when the weather is hotter (80's+) and humid, it will do it more frequent. Yet it still does it sometimes when the weather is more mild 60's-70's. Anyone have any ideas what to look at next? I would like to hook my puwertuner into it and watch the sensors live data, but its hard because I get about 5 minutes out of my laptop battery before it dies.

Re: Torque Converter Indecision
Tim, when was the last transaxle service done? Are you using Dexron III or VI?

Re: Torque Converter Indecision
It was done not last winter, but the winter before, dexron 3. I did check the fluid and it smells good, no dark colors or burned odor. I also couldn't see any clutch particlas on the dipstick when held in the light, but I suppose the filter would take care of any of that if there was any.
Whats funny is since I posted this, it has not done it. Its very intermittant, but I always notice it when it happens. I might pick up some new trans fluid and a filter and install a shift kit here soon.
