D16A9=ZC....I know Ive said it before
Ok Ive brought this up in the past. A D16A9 Out of a 88/89 Teg.....its almost the same specs as a ZC....now most of you have said to stay away from it and its not going to work. Well here is some info that kinda shows the opposite. They say the D16A9 is a ZC essentially and it will bolt in.

The Integra engine does not bolt right up to the 4G Civic chassis, it will bolt up to the 3G Civic though. But 4G would require custom mounts, and that alone is already too much work than its worth, I don't think the A8/9 even has a much HP as the ZC.

The 88-89 Teg engine only racks up about 118 @ the crank. Which is closer to 105 @ the wheels. They are quick I have driven a couple 88-89 Tegs. But the work would not be worth it.

^^^^^^^^
What he said. It also came out in the '90-'91 Aussie spec CRX Si . It is a ZC motor that has been redesignated - that was the only difference with 88-89 CRX and 90-91. Rated at 130bhp at the flywheel. It was also released in the EG series Aussie Si Civic. The only way the JDM spec ZC/D16A9 was ever down on power was in the computer controlled twin-carb setup. 137 seems too much in standard JDM trim civic 16valver, but 130 is what all Fi ZCs were rated at, which is what he is after. Unless it's just the U.S. getting sucky motors as usual

Ooops - forgot to mention - you can take an Aussie spec Si CRX and bolt the engine, bonnet etc straight across into a SOHC twin-carb GL 4G - so the mounts are fine - in this case anyway. Even the brackets are there for wiring looms, computer etc

nope, it wont, you guys need to look at the engine again. I bought one from a junkyard thinking it was a ZC, tried to put it in and the mounts do not line up AT ALL, and it is not rated a 130, thats bull its rated like 105 at the wheels, ive drove both, the integra and my ZC civic and the zc pulls WAY harder than the teg did, the teg just felt like my old DX engine.
anyway, don't do it please, you will prolly get more horses from a friggen exhaust than that motor, it sucks. |

Fucking hell - the ZC was stamped as the D16A9 and bolted into Aussie CRXs IN JAPAN!!!! The engine was also used in the EG Si Civic. Not to mention in the Euro trash cars. It came with slightly more AP equipment but still produced 130 bhp. Go figure
Anyone got a brick wall????? That or your US spec cars had a totally different engine that was also designated the same way as Honda - but even Honda in the US isn't that dumb... is it? |
