Oik pan removal

Can someone tell me if you are able to drop the oil pan without removing the engine on a 98 Intrigue with 3800 engine.
I sounds like the engine has developed a rod knock. The engine was completely rebuilt about one year ago.

thanks for any help

Re: Oik pan removal

There is procedure listed in my Chiltons manual for removing the oil pan on a 3.8L engine . It is rather lengthy but I can scan it and send to your email address if you like and will provide the address ?

Re: Oik pan removal

thanks for the generous offer.
I guess this happens when you get old. I read your reply and when you mentioned the Chiltons manual I remembered that my so has the manual for this car.
Thanks again for the offer and putting me on the right track
