stuck shifter

i was driving and all of a sudden my shifter got stuck in 3rd gear.... i tried everything to get this thing into at least neutral. after trying to drive home i gunned the throttle and bounced it off the rev limiter and suddenly it began to shift normally.... im still boggled. my dad says it's the bushings in the shifter but im not sure.... has anyone else had this problem?

Re: stuck shifter

i actually went around parts stores today and found out it's the bushings on the transmission side. they all told me i had to buy new shift cables running about 200(not cool). is there anything else i can do like get one from a different car that would fit... anyone else had this problem and had a creative solution?
