My lighter stopped working a month ago and I thought nothing of it, what with it being an 11 year-old truck and the socket was really lose. Turns out the fuse was blown, as I got told when I had it inspected yesterday. I thought great, now I can use my mobile charger for my cell phone and my portable tire inflater, etc.
Well, the socket pulled out today, along with the lighter, while trying to plug something in its place. Since the aux plug hasn't worked ever in the year I've had it, I'm a little frustrated. The socket and lighter are both in great shape, I just need to get them back in.
Is there anything special I have to do to get it back in or is it just a matter of getting the screw at the base into the rubber-lined socket inside the dash and then screwing the bastard down? I'm assuming I should pull the fuse first. Sorry I can't explain it any better. I can try, of course. Basically, it looks like the whole assembly unscrewed itself.
The reason I'm asking is because it looks like the wire (rubber-lined socket) that I'd need to screw the ground or power supply into isn't in the middle like I thought it would be... I was assuming I'd need a pair of pliers or something to get the job started. I don't want to screw something up and have to pay a mechanic mucho dinero because I don't have the tools or assumed I knew something I didn't!
