PlexiGlass Floor

Hello all! I just came across a 1978 Elky that is almost perfect. The only real issue with her is that the floorboards under the seats are rusted out. I have heard of people using PlexiGlass to literally melt a new floor board to it (Strong and Cheap). However, I can't find any resources on this. Any advice?

I would use a piece of sheet metal before plexiglass and just rivet it to the old floor or what is left of it.
