Help ! What is this noise in my 95 suburban ?

Hi to all who read my very first Thread.

I have a 1995 Chevy Suburban. It has 285,000 proudly driven miles. Hoping to hit 400,000.

It has developed a hummining noise this week. I had someone look at it, and they thought possibly the Pumpkin. I assume this is the front differential ( I hope ). Bought some Fluid Synthetic Fluid, Drained, and filled to about an inch from the top of the inspection plug.

It seems to have quited down a lot, but there is still this humming sound. It is fairly constant, and most noticibale when I acccellerate about 1-2 MPH over my current highway speed. It is like a pulsatinv sound ( sounds kind of corny, but like a space ship humming/ buzzing ). I seems like I do sense just a very faint vibration as I can hear this pulsating / humming sound.

Alright I will stop now.......Does anyone have any ideas for a novice machanic on what to look at next .

Thanks for all replies in advance.

If in 2W and front drive shaft is and front rear end is disengaging the noise is not front rear.
Does 4W change noise?
Also check front wheel bearings and U joints and pinion looseness and for tire noise.
Go threw the noise diagnostic as posted in link.

Let us know what you find there.
