99 PA Ultra needs a new cat

I need to replace the catalytic convertor on my wifes 99 PA Ultra.

I am looking for a good aftermarket replacement. Any suggestions where to find a quality cat at a reasonable price. I have heard that many aftermarket cats are junk.

If the replacement is a clamp on or can be mig welded, i will probably do the job myself. If it needs a stick weld i will take it to my mechanic. Thanks in advance for any help.

Check out Magnaflow @ ZZ Performance The 2 1/2 in my be a little larger than your pipes, but the cat ends can be bent in with a pair if pliers, or a hammer, then mig welded.

Re: 99 PA Ultra needs a new cat

All aftermarket converters are equally about the same. Yes they can be hit or miss, but I would either get one factory if you have the money and it will be direct bolt on replacement, or get one at Auto Zone or Fishers or some well known aftermarket place. Do not get the universal catalytic converters as they will more than likely fail as well. They may work for a while but they are basically designed just to repair the exhaust. If you get one aftermarket, get one direct fit. Hope this helps!

Nothing wrong with Magnaflow, I have one that was installed on a 94' LeSabre 6-yrs ago and is working great, without any problems! In addition, my PA Ultra has a Magnaflow CAT that we installed last year & no issues yet.
