Transmission? 1642??

Have a 200 kia sportage automatic and while drivingyou cannot shift into reverse or nuetral, although if you turn off engine , then move key forward, you can shift into nuetral at that point, had the code checked and got a code 1624
Can anyone help????

P1624 MIL Request Signal From TCM To ECM
NOrmally you should have anther code with that one.
Do you mean you cannot manually move the shift lever ? I'd check linkage and blocking solenoid .

Re: Transmission? 1642??

Thanks I had a friend check the linkage and cant seem to find a problem , he said. Acually after the engine is running if you put it in reverse, or nuetral they act as Drive......again though without the engine running nuetral works fine so you can roll backwards. I guess i should get the codes checked again its just sitting in my drive , pretty useless to me at this point
