Anybody know what this is? (Behind rotor)
I want to replace this part but don't know what it's called. Looks like it's possible part of the frame? It's only attached by a few bolts on both sides (left and right wheel).
Please help. |

Re: Anybody know what this is? (Behind rotor)
It definitely looks broken. Dont get one from a junkyard or youll probably have the same problem not too far down the road.
I think the cheapest option around at the moment is the Dorman swaybar, which is the same size as the GM Performance Parts sway bar, which is the next cheapest one I know of. The factory diameter swaybar (28mm) from the dealership is at least 100 bucks if memory serves. Both the Dorman and the GMPP version are a 34mm bar and I think around 50-60 bucks. Someone purchased one in the thread that you were linked too.

Re: Anybody know what this is? (Behind rotor)
There is a writeup in the tips and maintenance subforum on replacing the stabilizer (sway) bar. You basically remove both links (might have to cut them to get them off), then you remove the midpoint bushings with a wrench. Then you will need to undo the passenger side tie rod end to get the bar out.
You can get a complete new GMPP solid bar with new GM rubber bushings and new rubber midpoint bushings from ZZP for about 90.00 shipped. Thats what I have on my car. When you install it, make sure it goes in line an upside down V in the center. Otherwise its in upside down.
