Starter problem

I just purchased a 2004 Jeep Wrangler v-6 with 58000 miles. when you turn the key sometimes it turns over and somtimes it just clicks in the dash..battery and connections are good. Is this in the ingnition switch or maybe a relay any help will be appreciated

Re: Starter problem

could be the igniton switch or it could be a bad segment in the starter next time its just clicking have someone hold the key in the crank position and give the starter body a good whack with a hammer if it cranks over then you need a starter

Also, check for any corrosion INside your battery cables. I had a positive cable once that had corrosion 6" from the battery. It looked great - on the outside - until I sliced it open to have a look.
