Re: Are any of these good or not to buy
Based on consumer ratings, the 1994 Buick Le Sabre is more reliable, more fun to drive, has more quality parts, has a better performance and has a better gas mileage compared to the other cars you mentioned.
However, old used cars like these ones must be subjected to a very keen check up especially because car parts wear out even when garaged safely or regularly cleaned. So have a mechanic check the car that you will choose. But I strongly suggest a more reliable car based on consumer votes and that is the Buick Le Sabre. Being the car with the lowest mileage doesn't mean it is safe to buy because you don't know if the car had been in an accident or if the car had undergone major reparations. So get the VIN of these cars and have a history check via carfax or autocheck. One thing that you have to consider too is the price of the car. These cars seem overpriced. Some sellers value their car according to what they think it is worth and of course on how much they can get out of the deal. They expect buyers to haggle so they increase the real value of the vehicle. You can actually get either of these cars at $1,500 to $2,500, depending of course on the current condition of the car, the added equipments / modifications, mileage etc... So I highly advise that you look for more cars in online listings to get the best deal. By the way, these are not the only cars near $3,000. There are better ones out there. Just keep looking. Quote:
The skylarks are a lot more reliable, but at about 120K, the alternators can (and i am not joking) catch fire The Sable is essentially a Taurus, so expect the same rust and mechanical jiggery-pokery as the Taurus, you know, like power steering going out at around 80K, and valves possibly at 120K If you want a suggestion, try an Acura http://sacramento.craigslist.org/ctd/1813000580.html have a friend with one of these, loves it |

Re: Are any of these good or not to buy
I personally don't think a consumer rating fits into the equation of a vehicle being 17 years old,,, all that matters in this price range is which of the 3 mentioned vehicle's will outlast the investment, and that comes down to current CONDITION.

Re: Are any of these good or not to buy
I forgot to mention this. But you are right, you have to check the car if it is still mechanically fit. Have a third-party mechanic check it. When it comes to used cars, current condition is main priority no matter what make and model you are looking to buy.
