Re: Lack of power 2001 T&C 3.3L

How long between the tune up and lack of power? What did the tune up consist of?

Weak fuel pump? Connect a pressure gauge at the fuel rail. Should see a steady 55 psi. Lack of power at speed is one indication. Sag or stumble on acceleration is another.

Timing off? It has to be checked with a capable scanner. If you want to throw parts at it an upstream O2 sensor would be high on my list. A sliped timing chain on these engines is nearly unheard of but not out of the question.

Uniforms? Great idea!

next to battery the are some plugs that can be moved specially if you disconected the Battery look for loose plugs especially the bottom one cam and crank shaft and position sensor signals can be lost it the bottom conector is loose. if connector looks ok. test the cam shaft sensor. if van runs fine at idel and on flat surface but only up hill is the problem the fireing order is out of timing if sensor is sending wrong info due to a sensor malfuntion or loose conector hope this helps. i had cam and crank shaft position sensor problems that got solved by replacing both of them and tide that loose conector. on my 98 caravan 3.8l

Model year and engine? In general the list of possibilities is long. Have you checked for codes? Any recent maintenance. Did this come on slowly or without warning?

I may or may not have the right picture of your finger test but in any case you are regulating air by doing it. Leads me to think - vacuum leak. My fuzzy logic? If you have a leak anywhere upstream of the intake manifold gasket, covering the IAC hole with your finger will decrease the loss of overall vacuum making the engine run better especially at idle. Is the EGR valve stuck open? All the vacuum lines in good shape? Intake manifold gasket good? It's called the Idle Air Control Valve or IAC valve.
