Could it be a problem with the throttle position sensor? Maybe that sensor thinks the gas pedal is on the floor and is dumping in lots of gas.
Is your computer flashing any codes?
Would a bad Oxygen senser cause this?
Beats me. Since I don't have anything to contribute, I'll shut up.

Clogged fuel pressure regulator??:alien2: Bad O2 sensor would show up as running mega rich at idle or part throttle only , the ECU does not read the O2 at WOT....
Misadjusted TPS would cause the car to high idle also......

mine did something similar to this and it ended up being the distributor. I could hardly drive it running like that, and it shot pieces of the cateleytic converter out of the exhaust.

How long have you run the motor for ? Run it for a good 1/2 hour and see if it clears up. After that check your vaccum lines.

The vehicle speed sensor is located in our gauge cluster. Does your check engine light come on and stay on while driving?

its probably not plugged in all the way. my friends CRX did the same thing when they changed the clutch and unplugged the VSS. the speedometer didnt work and it threw a light. they plugged it in all the way and it fixed the problem.
