97 chevy k1500 rear end

Hello, The rear end in my truck is shot, it is a '97 K1500 4x4. lost a carrier bearing and broke the hub on the carrier in the process. I am wondering if any one knows the interchange on the internal parts. I found a 2wd rear and a bunch of 2500 rears for good prices but no 1500 6 lugs for under $500. I am wondering if I can get a 2wd rear or a 2500 rear and swap the axles with mine so I have the 6 lug ones on my truck. I know this might sound crazy but I can get them of craigs list for around $100 witch beats $500 at the junk yard. Any help would be great!! Thanks!!!

If you can install a 14 bolt over the 10 bolt I would...

Run your vin here to see what gears are in your truck...

If you find a 2500 Lt duty it will have the 6 lug already and from there it just bolts up...
