2001 GMC Sierra
I just purchased a 2001 GMC Sierra EXT cab Z71, 5.3 V8. I noticed that one of the shocks in the back is leaking oil, so I plan on replacing all four shocks. My question is what type of shock should I go with? The shocks that are currently on the truck, are loading assist shocks (spring around them). I understand these help with heavy loads, but I do not plan on hauling anything heavy at least not right away. Should I consider these anyways in case I do pull a camper or boat someday? Also will these shocks take away from the Z71 suspension? What would be a good set of basic shocks as well? Thanks.

Re: 2001 GMC Sierra
If money is not a problem, I would get factory replacement shocks. Bilsteins and Monroe are really good shocks for the money generally, but like I said, i'd go with factory replacements.

Re: 2001 GMC Sierra
I recently replaced all my shocks with Bilstein's.
