I'm planning an engine swap for this winter for my 91 CRX DX.
I am currently looking to go B18, however, can someone please tell me if there are any advantages of going spec R on this? As far as I can tell, the GSR and the Type R engines are identical(i SHOULD say can be MADE identical). Aside from price and bragging right, will putting a spec R motor in give me any advantage over the GSR? |

Actually, you'll be able to do more as far as it pertains to modifications on the GSR than the Type R engine. The Type R is already pretty much modified, so no major gains. A GSR is just a better deal in my opinion.

GS-R 180hp
Type R 195-200hp It really depends on the price variation and whether you are planning on a turbo at a later stage, I would go for the Type R for ultimate NA power mods, and the GS-R for the FI route.
