Transmission Whine

Just got a used S-1- pickup extended cab...V-6 Auto 2WD
But....The transmission (I think) whines when I start to drive. A little less with each gear, and a little less as it warms up. It shifts fine...Transmission fluid seems OK and looks like it has been changed recently.
Is my transmission...or something else about to croak?

Re: Transmission Whine

A whine would make on think it is the pump.

Re: Transmission Whine

Check for proper fluid level and check transmission filter and filter pickup seals.
Just whine moving and less in upper geers points to plantary gears bad.
Also look for what is in bottom of transmission pan and filter.
Post back what you find on filter and fluid level.

Re: Transmission Whine

I just bought a 03 S10 with a 2.2L in it and it has the same whine. It seems to lessen a bit after it warms up, but the fluid looks good and is not low. Should I be concerned? I mean it drives and shifts fine.

Yes.

How many miles on it and has transmission ever been serviced?
To save on high jacking threads cost.
Best to start a new tread on your problem and give all information.

Re: Transmission Whine

Sorry, shoulda known better I was just adding to this thread since my issue was the same and did not wanna start another simialr thread, but no worries!

It has 95K and as far as I know, it has never been serviced. And like I said, no shifting issues and it runs great.
