Power sliding door won't open.

I haven't been here in a long time because the site suddenly became unusable with FF and it wouldn't post my messages.

I have been having problems off and on with the drivers side PSD. I did have some with the passenger door one time but it hasn't happened since. Seems I and others have blamed it on the mechanics that open and close the door.
I think this is wrong or in my case and the drivers PSD it seems to be wrong.

I have found that if it won't open I can sometimes pull it and it will open, but those times that it won't open I have found that if I lock the door a couple of times then unlock it, it will then open. So I am beginning to think that the problem is in the door lock mechanism and not in the PSD mechanics.

Re: Power sliding door won't open.

If you haven't already cleaned the leading edge contacts of the door, do so now. Use an electrical contact cleaner.

Do the same with the contacts on the door post.

Re: Power sliding door won't open.

The study is still under analysis, but I think I'm finding an improvement in the performance of my power door after putting grease on the cable where it makes its turn and rubs against the car body. Basically you have to hit the button and then stand there with a small brush and rub grease all over the cable for as long as you can and then hit the button again and add more grease. Last night, I was at my daughter's house to celebrate father's day and someone went to close the door and my grandson got his finger in the door and it reversed when it hit his finger. That tells me that the door is very sensitive to resistance when closing. Greasing it seems to reduce this resistance.

I had the same problem on my 98 Montana Pass PSD and it was the lock itself.

Have you fixed the door yet?
